UTRECHT, Netherlands – Mammoet has completed work on the Sheybarah Island luxury resort, in collaboration with Red Sea Global.

The project involved the transportation and installation of 73 prefabricated villa orbs from Sharjah, UAE to the resort’s planned site on Sheybarah Island in the Saudi Red Sea. The resort features a luxury hotel, overwater and beach villas and front-of-house buildings, with design and planning by Killa Design.

Mammoet signed the contract in May 2022. Their work on the project included a 650t capacity Demag CC3800 crawler crane, which was used on Mammoet’s ALE 250 modified barge. The shallow draft of the barge was combined with a retrofitted 300t spud jacking system from Combifloat to minimize disruptions to local sea life.

Tools including GPS, precision engineering and locally-controlled jacking mechanisms were used in the placement process of the overwater villas.
