Broderson Manufacturing released its new 18-tonne capacity IC-280-A industrial carry deck crane. The IC-280-A is the first Broderson product that includes telematics as standard equipment.

The crane features a 19.6-metre four-section, full-power boom, a compact boom head, and a 20-foot boom extension that offsets at 0, 15, and 30 degrees. A two-speed hoist with 12,500-pound bare drum line pull with a maximum line speed of 186 feet per minute maintains good hook speed when multi-part reeving is used on the crane. All hydraulic functions are controlled through precise and reliable direct operated hydraulic controls.

Broderson has added a third (mid-extension) position to the out-and-down outriggers which enable more setup flexibility and better utilization of the crane capacity in tight workspaces. Removable 11-inch diameter nylon outrigger shoes are standard and 20-inch diameter shoes are optional when a lower outrigger ground bearing pressure is needed.

Engine options for the crane include a Cummins 120HP QSF3.8, US EPA Tier 4F diesel or GM 5.7L V8 LPG. A global diesel engine option will be available in 2021. Four-wheel steer/2-wheel drive (4×2) is the standard drive configuration and four-wheel drive/four-wheel steer (4×4) is optional. The engine coupled with a four-speed powershift transmission provides superior travel performance: maximum travel speed of 18 miles-per-hour, maximum drawbar pull of 18,100 pounds, and maximum calculated gradeability of 64 per cent.

With the newly integrated telematics, owners will be able to access location, operating hours, utilization, engine and maintenance information through both online and mobile platforms.

An extensive list of optional equipment is available for this crane. The most popular are: non-marking tires, auxiliary chassis-mounted 10,000-pound line pull winch, front and rear pintle hooks, lighting packages with work lights and strobe lights, searcher hook, and an RCL light bar.
