Hiab, a division of Cargotec, has completed the acquisition of the U.S. demountables manufacturer Galfab.

Galfab makes roll-off hoists and related equipment for the domestic waste industry, and now joins Hiab’s Demountables, Forestry & Recycling Cranes business area.

Galfab’s equipment will be included in Hiab’s nationwide U.S. sales and service network. The agreement to acquire was announced Aug. 21.

Galfab was launched in 1992 by the Galbreath family. Apart from the roll-off hoist designed by Don Galbreath, it also offers other products including compactors, containers and self-dumping hoppers.

The company currently employs around 100 people, who will all transfer to Hiab.

“I warmly welcome Galfab and its employees to Hiab,” says Scott Phillips, president, Hiab. “This is an exciting opportunity to create growth for both Galfab and our demountables business.”
