$9,000 in diesel stolen from inactive crane

Placentia RCMP are investigating the recent theft of approximately $9,000 in diesel fuel from an industrial crane parked near the wharf at the Port of Argentia, NL.

Diesel fuel prices have skyrocketed in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Police say the theft occurred sometime between November of 2021 and March 25 of 2022 while the crane was out of service waiting for parts.

Approximately 4,000 litres of diesel was taken from the crane.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
