Montreal terminal operator orders new mobile harbour crane

September 1, 2021  By Crane & Hoist Canada Staff

A dry bulk terminal operator at the Port of Montreal has ordered a new mobile harbour crane from Konecranes, set to be delivered in October.

LOGISTEC Stevedoring Inc. will receive the Gottwald Model 7 Mobile Harbour Crane in the G HMK 7608 B variant to handle cargo such as scrap metal.

With a maximum radius of 54 metres, the crane can service bulk vessels up to Capesize class.

Smart crane features combined with a maximum lifting capacity of 150 tonnes make it versatile enough to handle almost any kind of dry bulk cargo.

The crane is equipped with external power supply to use power from the harbour main for a more eco-efficient operation. For working independently from this power source, the Model 7 uses its on-board diesel engine, which fulfills the latest emission standard EPA Tier 4f.

LOGISTEC already uses a Gottwald Model 5 at Newfoundland’s Port of Corner Brook, and two Model 6 units at another port in Florida.
