Van Oord to pass leadership torch to the next generation

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – Van Oord, a global company specializing in marine contracting and offshore infrastructure construction, revealed plans for Govert Van Oord to assume the position of CEO beginning in 2024.

Currently, Govert Van Oord oversees the company’s dredging and infra business unit as managing director, and has worked in the company’s Middle East, Spain and Brazil markets. He holds a masters of business from Switzerland’s Institute for Management Development and has a background in civil engineering.

Pieter Van Oord, the company’s CEO of 15 years, is leaving to join Schilpol Airport as CEO, with plans to join Van Oord’s advisory board at a later date. With this change, Van Oord’s leadership will move into the fifth generation of the family.

Plans for Govert Van Oord’s appointment to CEO were announced on Nov. 26, and will take effect following a formal appointment at Van Oord’s annual general meeting on Apr. 11, 2024.
