As we turn the page on 2024 – along with Crane & Hoist Canada’s 15th year as a publication – our final issue of the year brings plenty of reasons for applause.

Crane & Hoist Canada closes out 2024 with our annual tradition of highlighting the best of who’s next across the country’s heavy lifting industry. Our Top 10 Under 40 program’s class of 2024 spans a wide range of roles, responsibilities and resumes, while sharing a passion for the industry and a commitment to driving it forward. Congratulations to all our winners!

This past September, Western Canada’s crane operators put their skills to the test at Falcon Equipment’s third annual Crane Rodeo in Surrey, B.C. Matt Jones spoke to Falcon Equipment and this year’s winner about the popular event, along with some tips on what to expect out of next year’s Rodeo.

While the demand for new workers remains high across the trades, the paths to apprenticeship for Canada’s future crane operators are wide and varied. The Canadian Crane Rental Association spoke to some of the leaders helping to train this next generation about the current path forward, along with the evolution of the opportunities and challenges in joining the sector.
