Light crane system range launched by Hoist UK

October 10, 2023  By Hoist UK

Hoist UK has launched a new range of light crane systems that it says has been designed as a versatile and modular lifting and handling solution.

Six steel track configurations are available: straight monorail, curved monorail, single girder crane, single girder low-headroom crane, double girder crane, and double girder low-headroom crane.

There are also five aluminium track configurations, which match the steel configurations, minus the curved monorail option.

Steel profiles are available in four different track sizes, each with different load and span characteristics. Constructed from rolled high-tensile steel, the tracks are supplied in a RAL1007 powder-coated finish. Hoist UK says the range of steel track profiles are ideal for higher-capacity systems; however, they are also the most economical in most cases when compared to the aluminium.

The aluminium profiles are also available in four different track sizes. Constructed from a lightweight aluminium extrusion, the range is said to be ideal for applications where the overall weight of the system or application components needs to be reduced. Aluminium tracks are supplied in an anodised finish, “making them ideal for hygienic and cleanroom environments,” said Hoist UK.

The straight monorails with steel track profiles can be configured for rated load capacities up to 1,500kg (the aluminium alternative is rated for up to 1,000kg). Depending on the overall runway length, the system can either supplied as a single piece of track or as modular sections, supported at the required intervals by a suitably rated suspension bracket.

Curved monorails with steel track profiles can be configured for rated load capacities up to 1,250kg. Track profiles are available in 15°, 30° and 45° curved sections as standard and can be combined with straight profiles, switches and turntables.

Single girder cranes with steel track profiles can be configured for rated load capacities up to 1,500kg, while the aluminium version is rated for up to 1,000kg. The crane design with a single-track bridge profile suspended from a set of runway beams allows the load to be traversed in all travel directions.

Single girder low-headroom cranes with steel track profiles can also be configured for rated load capacities up to 1,500kg (the aluminium alternative is rated for up to 1,000kg).

Double girder cranes can be configured for rated load capacities up to 2,000kg (it’s half that for the aluminium model). The design of the double girder trolley/crab unit for the hoist offers an increased lifting height as the hoist is raised up in between the two track profiles.

Double girder low-headroom cranes can be configured for rated load capacities up to 2,000kg, while the aluminium version is again rated for up to 1,000kg.

For applications where the crane or monorail can’t be suspended from the existing building structure or steelwork, freestanding steelwork structure can be designed.

Other available items include a wide selection of standard suspension brackets, travel limit switches as standard for cranes and hoists equipped with powered travel motions, and anti-collision devices for powered crane systems with more than one bridge travelling on the same runway profiles. Crane and monorail systems with an electric chain hoist are supplied as standard with a cabled push button pendant with functionality to control all powered travel motions. Wireless radio control systems – and tandem radio control systems for control of multiple bridges/hoists from the same handset – are also available.
