Crane accident leading to permitting improvements

March 9, 2020  By Crane & Hoist Canada

Vancouver, B.C. – When report of a crane accident hits the news, the impact on the industry is felt across the country.

Following the fatal crane collapse in Seattle in 2019, Washington State introduced legislation to put a government inspector at every site where a crane tower is being set up or taken down, while several cities across North America are reviewing their permitting processes.

This important topic will be presented at the 2020 CRAC Conference, May 27-30, in Vancouver. In this presentation, Frank Carr will report on discussions between crane industry partners and the City of Vancouver on how to improve local permitting procedures and make job sites safer for everyone.
