WorkSafe BC investigating after equipment falls from crane in Kelowna
September 16, 2021 By Crane & Hoist Canada Staff
WorkSafe BC is investigating how a piece of metal equipment toppled down from a tower crane in Kelowna, B.C. earlier this week.
Global News reports that the incident occurred on the afternoon of Sept. 13.
While no one was injured, the steel landed on the ground near workers at the ONE Water Street site, which is being managed by Kerkoff Construction.
It’s unclear as to whether the piece of steel originated on the crane itself. WorkSafe BC declined to comment during the course of the investigation.
This is the second safety-related occurrence in the area in as many months. On Jul. 12, a crane collapse at another residential tower site in Kelowna killed five people.
