Last week, SC&RA visited Ontario and Quebec as part of a continuing effort to work toward harmonization for its 116 Canadian members.
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) continues to consult SC&RA as it moves forward with consideration of fully automated permitting and complete replacement of police escorts with private certified escorts.
In addition, counties throughout Ontario are seriously considering automated permitting and the coordination between local jurisdictions.
The Hydro One Utility and counties throughout Ontario are resolving harmonization thresholds and signoffs between the utility and counties. In Quebec, the Ministry of Transportation has reported a commitment of full implementation of automated permitting system within approximately one year. For more information, contact Steven Todd.
