Province chips in for manufacturing, crane costs
February 21, 2023 By Northern Ontario Business
Two northern Ontario businesses will share in nearly $600,000 to help grow their businesses.
On Feb. 16, the province announced SIS Manufacturing Corp. and Apex Cranes Ltd. of Sault Ste. Marie would share in $596,578 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp. (NOHFC). Apex Cranes will receive the remaining $50,810, which will go toward the purchase of a new concrete pumper truck, as the company provides crane and concrete-pumping services.
Of the funding, SIS Manufacturing will get $545,768 toward the purchase of a new plasma-cutting machine, laser tracking system, and lathe. The fabrication company supplies industrial and construction-related steel products and services, and SIS said their new purchases will enable them to weld ultra-light locomotive frames.
