Hiab, part of Cargotec, has received the inaugural Quality Organisation of the Year Award at The 2018 International Quality Awards in London on Nov. 21. The awards, organized by The Chartered Quality Institute, recognize the outstanding work of quality professionals and for the first time also a whole organization, Hiab AB.

"When customers invest in Hiab they know they are investing in equipment and solutions created to the highest international standards. We are incredibly proud to be able to call ourselves Quality Organisation of the Year. This is a great achievement by the whole Hiab organization," says Joakim Andersson, senior vice-president of cranes for Hiab.

The Quality Organisation of the Year Award recognizes the organization that best exhibits a culture of quality and puts it at the heart of everything they do. The jury argued their choice for awarding Hiab for its sophisticated approach to strengthening its quality function and embedding quality structures throughout their business practice. Their clear, extensive approach to quality coincided with strong business growth and an increase in customer satisfaction.

Three years ago, Hiab initiated a strategic program to deliver their customers the highest level quality products and services, as well as improving the performance level of internal core processes. As a concrete effect, Hiab could record a notable reduction in claims and non-conformities.

In July, Hiab business lines and production units were awarded new, stricter ISO certifications for quality assurance, sustainability and occupational health and safety, replacing company-wide ISO certifications*. Hiab's management system was audited on the capability to listen to the customer and taking their needs into consideration when redefining plans and strategies.

"It's all about the quality of how we run our business and listen to the customer. Customers demand more than high quality products. They expect a quality experience throughout the lifecycle of their product. We're very happy to be recognised by our customers and the Chartered Quality Institute for the quality work across our organisation. I would in particular like to thank my Hiab colleagues who have made the seamless transition to the new and stricter standards possible," says Tobias Bunne, Quality & Product Support Director, Hiab.
