A MESSAGE FROM OUR PUBLISHER

As projects ramp up heading into construction season, Crane & Hoist dives into one of the biggest projects across the country from the last several years – the Gordie Howe International Bridge – and the critical role that cranes have played in lifting the massive, cross-border structure to life.

Saul Chernos spoke to the leaders and crane operators behind the Gordie Howe International Bridge project about the crane setups, strategies, and stories that have brought hundreds of metres of this bridge into fruition.

As the owner of Canada's only Indigenous-registered crane service company, Aaron Pelletier of Abbotsford, B.C.'s Capacity Crane shared his journey through the industry with associate editor Jack Burton, speaking about the people and experiences that have brought him to where he is today.

Editor Mike Lacey travelled to Austin, Texas for the SC&RA's Annual Conference, and recaps the range of unique and heavy-duty projects honoured by the association's Lift of the Year awards.

The issue also features updates from the Canadian Crane Rental Association on its provincial weight limit advocacy and BC Crane Safety on industry stakeholder initiatives, along with the latest happenings and technologies driving Canada's heavy lifting sector forward.

Happy reading!
