Crane comes to the rescue for worker who suffers seizure
April 26, 2022 By Ottawa Citizen
Paramedics thanked firefighters for the lift after they rescued a worker who had a seizure at a Parkdale Avenue construction site recently.
The man was taken to the trauma centre in stable condition, the Ottawa Paramedic Service said, citing “great teamwork in challenging conditions.”
Firefighters were called in to do a rope rescue between Colombine Driveway and Burnside Avenue after the stricken worker fell about two metres below grade.
Members of the fire department’s rope rescue team secured the man in a metal Stokes basket, which is kept on hand on construction sites in case of emergency.

They attached the basket to a crane and lifted the man to ground level where paramedics were ready to help.
